He is the most experienced UK surgeon in anterior hip replacement. Prof Field has built up one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive databases on the outcome of hip and knee replacement and has published extensively on hip preservation and joint replacement surgery. He has served as a board member of the British Association for Day Surgery (BADS), the British Hip Society (BHS) and the International Society for Hip Preservation Surgery (ISHA). Operations
Surgical and anaesthetic fees for surgical procedures vary according to the procedure code(s) of the intervention(s) being undertaken. Before any operation, Prof Field and his anaesthetist will write to you with details of their fees for the procedure that they have agreed to undertake for you. In rare cases, it may be necessary to modify the surgical plan and Prof Field will try to anticipate and provide you with details of alternative procedures that may be necessary. It is important that your consent for surgery is obtained prior to your admission and this is something that can be usefully covered during the lockdown period. Please also note that when it becomes possible to admit patients to hospital for planned operations, an additional consent form will need to be completed, to address the risks associated with Covid-19 infection.
